Testing Thin Sheeting and Plastic Films

Testing Thin Sheeting and Plastic Films

Plastic films are used for a wide variety of applications in the packaging industry, in medicine, for agricultural purposes and in the construction industry, to name but a few. The broad scope of film manufacture, together with the wide range of processing methods employed, places greatly differing demands on whichever testing method is used.

Zwick has designed testing equipment for these specific demands and suitable for a wide range of mechanical testing. Examples include extrusion plastometers used to characterize materials in goods inwards.  Universal testing machines provide accurate, reliable measurement of values for stress-strain characteristics, adhesion forces between two layers, coefficients of friction, penetration resistance and flexure characteristics, while pendulum impact testers are used to determine impact strength values, typically in an impact tensile test.
